Albino Sterlet (Acipenser Ruthenus)
Albino Sterlet reach a maximum size of 3ft (36 inch) in the wild, we would say that 2ft (24 inch) is more reasonable assumption in a garden pond due to the feeding habits and generally eating less than in their natural habitat.
The lifespan of Sterlet is approximately 25 years.
A popular cold water species that is predominantly freshwater, although they do like brackish rivers that run into coastal waters. Slow growing with a very passive nature makes them excellent company for other garden pond fish such as koi carp and orfe. Originally they only came with the sort after pink colouration, but now yellow and gold variants are available. The do keep their most sort after albino trait, there beautiful red eyes. Very lazy during the day, whether it's slowly moving around or sitting still in the same spot for hours. This all changes at night as the go hunting. They charge around the pond searching every inch of their surroundings as some great speed. A great time to go feed them and watch them go on the hunt for food.
