Great Beluga (Huso Huso)
Beluga Latin name Huso Huso.
Maximum size is 6-7 meters so very large and only suitable for adequate ponds to house such a fish.
The lifespan of Beluga is approximately 60 years.
A popular cold water species. Anadromous species meaning they can live in freshwater or the open oceans. Very fast growing. Not agressive as such but if a smaller fish gets in their way and triggers the barbels, it may become food. They are migratory fish that love to swim vast distances. This will become apparent once you see them patrol the perimeter of your pond only stopping to feed. They are an extremely rare addition to have in your pond collection. Their majestic presence is unmatched by any other fish and is why the Great Beluga is still a very popular choice for sturgeon keepers.
